responsAbility: Catalysing Climate Investment for Agribusiness and Food Industry in Indonesia

In collaboration with responsAbility and PisAgro, in January 2025, Nectary established a business networking event that focused on climate investment and sustainable financing solutions for Indonesia’s agriculture and food sectors. The event was meant to take us to take a closer look at the concept of climate investment, the latest trends and developments in Indonesia, inspiring case studies, as well as funding opportunities from responsAbility.

The event started with a networking session, where the attendees could meet and get to know one another a bit better. Through a fun ice-breaking session, attendees could have the opportunity to broaden their network around an exciting and pleasant environment.

We then continued with a discussion and sharing session, where the experts themselves shared with us their interesting views on the agribusiness and food industry in Indonesia. Starting with a sharing session from Bapak Dr. Ir. Aris Pramudia, M.Si, the principal Researcher on Soil Science, Agroclimatology, and Hydrology at BRIN, where he took us to delve into the concept, challenges, experiences, and opportunities of agriculture in Indonesia. After knowing the actual conditions in Indonesia and possible opportunities to mitigate the challenges, the session continued with the second speaker, Ibu Fetriza Rinaldy, the Vice President of ESG in Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), who took us to see INA, and how the government allocates their investments to five sectors (transport, logistics & infrastructure, digital, green energy & blue economy, healthcare, food and agriculture, and critical minerals), to aid with the national development as well as commercial returns.

The session continued with Ms. Neha Baid, the head of Sustainable Food in APAC, who shared with us the appealing funding opportunities that responsAbility has to offer to Indonesia’s agriculture and food companies, which could help companies to grow and flourish, she also shared with us a few inspiring case studies and examples of responsibility funding in some countries across the world. The importance of impact investment was strengthened by the testimony delivered by Ibu Karmila Parakkasi, the Chief Sustainability Officer of PT RLU (Royal Lestari Utama). In this opportunity, Ibu Karmila had the chance to share with us a bit about her company, how climate investment helped her company to grow more, and how it aids the company’s development. This session ended with an interactive question & answer, where six attendees got the chance to ask questions directly to our experts and discuss with them about questions or problems that are here in the industry or that are faced by their companies.

We would like to thank our partners, our insightful speakers, as well as the attendees for their enthusiasm throughout this event. It is our hope that the attendees could connect with industry leaders, broaden their network, exchange ideas with one another, and discover practical solutions for sustainability challenges in agriculture and food through this event. We are excited about the outcome of this event, and we also hope that this event will benefit all of the attendees.
