Sustainable Natural Rubber Initiative in Lampung Province, Indonesia

Nectary has partnered with Olam Agri and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH to launch the Sustainable Natural Rubber Initiative in Lampung Province, Indonesia! This initiative is a game-changer for smallholder rubber farmers, aiming to enhance their competitiveness, sustainability, and market inclusion while working towards deforestation-free rubber cultivation.

Here’s what we’re doing:
? Engaging 2,000 smallholder farmers with training on best practices to improve yields and sustainability.
? Digitally mapping the land of 42,000 farmers using GPS polygon mapping to enhance transparency, traceability, and environmental protection.
? Strengthening farmer organizations and supporting legality and landownership issues to ensure long-term inclusion in international supply chains.

This initiative is part of the SAFE project, funded by the European Union, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. It builds on our successful mapping of over 19,500 farmers in 2024 and aligns with international requirements like the upcoming EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

As Gaurav Gupta, VP & Business Head of Rubber (Southeast Asia), shared: “This partnership marks a significant step in making rubber production in Lampung more productive, sustainable, and responsive to global demands.”

Together with GIZ, we’re committed to creating a resilient and sustainable rubber supply chain that benefits farmers, safeguards the environment, and meets the needs of international markets.
